Tips on processing and installing LINIT composite panels

General notes on handling during the construction phase

Notes on processing

When the LINIT panels are delivered to the construction site, they must be examined for possible damage.
Faulty or damaged panels may not be installed, and a corresponding complaint must be submitted.
Until they are processed, LINIT panels must be stored horizontally on a flat, dry surface.
The surfaces and edges of the panels must be protected from damage and contamination – especially coloured and PVC surfaces.
Suction pads cannot be used for the installation of large panels, and “lying fibres". In these cases, and especially with heavy indoor panels, the manufacturer should be consulted.
When removing the top panel from the stack, do not slide it over the panel below, as this could lead to surface damage through trapped foreign particles.
If the panel is covered with a protective foil, this should not be removed during processing.
LINIT panels can be cut to size on vertical and horizontal panel saws. Cutting tools must be carbide-tipped. Detailed information about saw blades and cutting speeds can be requested from the manufacturer.
To protect the surfaces from scratches during cutting, we recommend using a felt underlay.
Please note: The above cutting methods cannot be used for panels faced with sheet steel, fibre cement, toughened safety glass, etc. The latter require special processing.
During storage and processing, the panels must be protected from mechanical damage and contamination.

Notes on installation

LINIT panels must always be fitted in a supporting frame structure. Therefore, adequate play must always be provided in the frame to allow the LINIT panels to expand according to their coefficient of expansion. This is also why any glazing in LINIT panels must be carried out according to the rules of the trade.
Blocking and shimming must be done so that both outer surfaces are resting fully on the blocks/shims.
Otherwise, Regulation No. 3 of the technical advice center of the German glazing trade applies.
The outer pressure/covering strips must be fitted into the frame structure immediately after installing the LINIT panels.
In case of dry glazing, particular attention must be given to ensure adequate drainage of the glazing rebate.
No moisture must be allowed to enter via the edges. Additional protection of the edges can be provided by means of suitable adhesive tape or sealing compound.
When installing the LINIT panels, make sure that the foil covering at the edges and surfaces of the panels is not damaged.
Any other installation methods must first be discussed with and approved by the manufacturer of LINIT panels.
